Why Web Solutions are Green: Taking Paper out of the Equation
Green is no longer just the color of grass or lettuce, it is an environmental movement. While Web Solution companies may not have green certifications the answers they offer their clients is extremely green.
Web Solutions companies are green through their elimination of paper rather then through the type of light bulbs they use. When your business chooses to advertise online instead of in a magazine or newspaper you save trees, ink, plastic, and other resources. Let's look at a fictional example. For spring 2008, the magazine, Business Week expects a rate base or circulation of at least 900,000 (MRI). That means if you put a one page ad in one issue of Business Week you are using at least 900,000 pieces paper. Compare that to a web solution company that uses online marketing strategies to increase traffic to your website. Total paper used: 0! Through some investigating, I found that one tree is approximately 8,333 sheets of paper. This depends on the size of the tree and the type of paper; however for this exercise an approximate is fine. Below are the calculations of how many trees you could save by moving your one page ad from a magazine to the internet.
900,000 (1 page ads) ÷ 8,333 (sheets of paper equaling 1 tree) ~ 108 trees
You can save 108 trees by deciding not to advertise in one magazine.
While some people care about trees, others may be concerned with the bottom line. Web Solutions not only save trees put they save money because there are no printing costs.
